Good Morning, Lima

We made it to Lima this morning. The fight was good, we both managed to get a some sleep, but not quite enough. We landed in Lima at 7am and weren't sure what to expect from imigration and customs, but both were effortless. After customs we were greeted by a little old man that our hostel had sent to pick us up. We're staying at in the Miraflores district in the Ekeko Hostel, but check in isn't until 11am.

After sending an email to our families and having a cup of tea, we decided to go for a walk around Miraflores. At the suggestion of the young woman at the hostel, we walked down Avenida Arequipa past Parque Kennedy to Parque del Amor, on the ocean. Since it was Sunday morning, Avenida Arequipa was closed off to cars and was full of people walking, running, bicycling, skateboarding, and even rollerblading. I can't remember ever seeing so many people on rollerblades.

On our walk we also manged to get some things done; took cash out of an ATM, picked up some bottled water, and purchased a local SIM card for the iPhone. For your information, my American phone number no longer works.

We're going to go check out the Mistura food festival today and begin getting ourselves acquainted with the city.
